For the 10%…

In color analysis training, I learned you can run into situations like a True Autumn who looks best in shades, or a Summer who looks best in tints. I don’t run into situations like this often, but when I have.. I regret not having an exact reference to share showcasing the most optimal colors.

When someone has a home season and they flow, they have a dominant dimension of the three main dimensions of that season. What if someone tests as a True Season and they have TWO dominant dimensions of the three? The third one is still important enough for them to belong in their home season, but there’s a little less emphasis on the third dimension.

To give an example, my mom is a True Spring. She was analyzed during my last module before I completed my Qualification training in Spring 2024. (In-person Mastery later in Spring 2024 too). She has dark brown eyes and is brunette. She can tan deeply, but also can look reflective and translucent in Winter. Her part of True Spring hones in on the Warm and Bright dimensions. Light is important; shades aren’t the best and neither are tones. Her palette is warm and full of pigment. Bright on its own is much too cool for her. We tested my new select (few per palette) precise drapes on her to compare to the general True Spring drapes (which were the best for her originally). Each one of them filled her with life. I crafted a digital palette to hone in on these dimensions that still fall under the True Spring umbrella, but slightly customized for her emphasis on Warm and Bright - HD Spring. Spring in high definition - saturation turned up… warm colors saturated that make her shine even brighter. My little space in True Spring? I’m excited to show you that too - another day.

I noticed this precision can be particularly important with make-up recommendations or for those who need more saturation in light or muted home season palettes (True Autumn, True Summer, True Spring). I have an unusual amount of True Springs in my life; two of those closest with me verified in my training. We are all True Springs: Warm and clear. There was more than one time a make-up product would work great for me and be a little too much (or not enough) for them. When someone isn’t ablee to use the majority of the color strip or my supplemental True Season PDF that is tailored for the broader range of a True Season, there’s room for more misses. With that said, since make-up is trial and error depending on your own features, I encourage you to trial products to find what best suits you - regardless of your result.

There are people in the True Season that have roughly an even amount of each dimension and will not need any additional reference than what is standard for my clients - this is for the 10%. The 10% who may benefit from a slightly customized palette to help guide their result. Color analysis can be refined even further by the individual, but refining to this degree makes me more prepared to have a reference readily available to provide and better serve my clients when this situation arises.

I strongly believe in the system I trained in and continue to use the color strip references for my in-person clients and digital references for my virtual clients. Anyone that falls into a precision dimensional palette will still be provided their general True Season palette, but an extra digital palette PDF by me if they are strong in 2 out of 3 of the core dimensions, with the 3rd dimension just being a bit lower on the totem pole.

Now, a color analyst can provide you this information in many ways - including customizing and marking a swatch book or booklet. I choose to define it by making sense of it - for myself, and for you.

Moving forward, International Image Institute is launching an app where, in my understanding, colors can be custom picked for clients. If someone is a Precision Dimensional client of mine, I will still be able to find these best dimensions for you within the home season using this upcoming app. Each palette is still under the umbrella of the True season with the same dimensions, but a slightly different composition.

To test for precision, I have purchased extra color drapes and dipped into my reserves of the 100+ seasonal drapes I had before even purchasing my professional kit. My computer storage is weeping over the increase from 23 to 38 multi-page supplemental PDFs, but we made it.

Please stayed tuned. I am excited to share videos of draping with this concept and talking about the new sub-palettes themselves. Virtual analysis reports of True Seasons will have an extra page at the end for customized tested comparisons.

Remember: If you are a flow, this will not apply… unless I see a need for more precision later.

Lastly, if you have gotten an analysis from me already and are a True Season, then I will be happy to re-analyze the precise dimensional sub-palettes against your True Season. Upon request, I will provide a complementary follow-up with a one-page addendum, if applicable. Please allow three weeks following the request to receive this.

In the meantime, check out the flow charts below for a sneak-peek. If you are the tiniest bit as excited about this refinement as I am, please subscribe to me on Youtube @sunandmooncoloranalysis to follow along.
